I remember when I first heard that your thoughts create your world – I instantly knew it was true. I was highly unfulfilled and ready for… OK I didn’t know what I was ready for but I was ready for something!
Looking back it was clear that what I was ready for was to come into my personal power. And the fact you’re reading this now tells me you’re on a journey to come into your personal power too.
What is personal power?
Your personal power is your ability to be in command of yourself and as result, of your life. With us spiritually conscious folk, it’s sometimes confused with Divine power. Personal power is about how well you can physically express your Divine Power – grounding that power and enjoying tangible results.
Personal power is about moving beyond talking and meditating on spiritual concepts to integrating them into your everyday life and living them.
Your personal power is always there behind your conditioning, beliefs, thoughts and mindsets. The underlying biggest block to being in your personal power is fear and its many manifestations.
Here are 5 manifestations of fear that are signs you’re not in your personal power:
Struggle
Life isn’t supposed to be a struggle. I know this goes against the widely accepted belief that life is hard, but struggle is a sign of conflict. If life seems to be a struggle it means you are holding beliefs that are in conflict to your True Nature. Pushing and fighting against life comes from a lack of trust and a fundamental belief that you’re living in a hostile world and you gotta push to get yours.
Personal power is a sense of ease and comes from a trusting that life ALWAYS has your best interests at heart.
Rushing
Rushing around always has some anxiety and worry behind it. Usually coming from a thought of what if [insert negative consequence]. Again, it’s a lack of trust.
Personal power is self-assured and a feeling that everything’s alright. It is also being in your body and not just a body rushing one way with a head somewhere else.
Chronic tension
This is a consequence of the previous 2 signs. All this rushing, pushing and struggling pollutes your body with stress which results in tension. Common tension areas are your back, shoulders, neck and chest but can be elsewhere too. You’re not flowing with life and are trying to push it into the form you want it take – a pretty ineffective way to make changes!
Personal power is a more relaxed nature stemming from going with the flow because you trust where the flow will lead you.
Blame
Anytime a problem arises the first place you look is for a guilty party. Taking no responsibility for your contribution to the situation means change stays outside of your control – powerless!
Personal power is taking responsibility and therefore learning the lessons that move you forward so you are better able to respond.
Judging and criticising
Judging and criticising is not a great way to use your energy. Who are you to judge anyway? No-one’s perfect and everyone’s just doing the best they can. As Oprah says a lot, “when you know better, you do better.” Trying to control everyone and make everything ok ‘out there’ so you feel good is a waste of your precious resources.
Personal power is using your judgements to recognise the rejected parts of you and bringing them back into the fold so you can harness even more personal power.
