Thanks to technological advances like the internet, we’re very much living in an information age. It’s great – we now have immediate access to an unlimited amount of information at the touch of a few buttons on our computers, mobile phones or other device.
For an information junkie like me it’s brilliant and I’m obviously not alone. Googling is actually a recognised word now and appears in dictionaries!
The rise of the ‘how-to’ guide
Another wonderful thing about this age is that whenever you need a solution to a problem, someone that has been through it before you usually has created some kind of formula that can help you through. You get to see you’re not alone in your issue and also get the solution – result!
It’s great that these formulas and how-to guides exist and no doubt, some people are able to follow these formulas and achieve the results they want, but for some people
THE HOW TOS ARE NOT ENOUGH
You can follow the formula for creating a six-figure business (that seems to be what I come across a lot of these days) but if you’re carrying around a deep-seated belief you have that you are not worthy, deserving or good enough to have a six figure business, it ain’t gonna happen!
You see your life is a reflection of your dominant thoughts and what makes a thought dominant and influential is repetition. You don’t have to be a mathematical genius to work out that a thought you’ve had for 30 years has been repeated way more than one you’ve had for the last 5 years.
Some of the thoughts that are really pulling your strings you’ve had since you were a small child. They’re so unconscious to you, you don’t even question them as beliefs, you actually think they’re facts! These are the most dominant (and destructive) kind, and are usually in contrast to the formula you are following for a better life, business, relationship, body shape etc. Without releasing these dominant non-serving thoughts or a ton of willpower and self-discipline (no thanks!) that belief will eventually find a way to sabotage your efforts.
Someone else’s Truth
Also, following someone else’s formula unquestioningly is simply swapping one set of beliefs for another at the level of mind. It worked for them but it may not work for you, it may not align with your Truth and it’s not necessarily helping you find your Truth either.
You may be following someone else’s Truth thinking you’re being led to your own Truth, but if you haven’t taken the time to access your Truth how will you know the difference? Your Truth lies beneath the old, unconscious and deep-seated thoughts you have about yourself and knowing and honouring your Truth is part of standing in your personal power.
Don’t beat yourself up
If you’ve been following formulas and finding they are not working for you, don’t be hard on yourself about it. How-to guides are not the starting place for some people and you could be one of them. Something else is needed before you can follow any formula or even formulate your own.
Before you can even think about following a formula successfully and getting the results you want, you need your personal power. It is the foundation to everything else. Personal power is not being sabotaged by your thoughts of unworthiness and it is knowing and living your Truth.
